March 08, 2008

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Saturday, March 08, 2008, in the Village Hall. Mayor Maedl opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. Also present were: Deputy Mayor Conley, Trustee Bateman, Trustee Sarchia, Coordinator Dodge, Police Chief Swick, and ClerkTreasurer Schweigert. Trustee Kirkpatrick was absent. Discussed 2008-2009 budget, going over each line item in the General Fund. The public works department needs to purchase a Bobcat and mower. The purchase price will be spread over the three funds. The emergency phone at the Scout House is no longer necessary. Most people who are at the Scout House have cell phones. This costs the Village about $30 per month. A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Conley, and seconded by Trustee Bateman, to remove the 911 phone at the Scout House. Carried. The police department will need to purchase a new vehicle. Part of the funding for this will be from the Stop DWI money from the County. The compensation for Eric Jones was discussed. He stores and maintains the sound system equipment that the Village owns, as well as doing the setup and takedown for events. Current compensation is $35, which was deemed too low. A motion was made by Trustee Bateman, and seconded by Deputy Mayor Conley, to increase the per event amount to $50. Carried. The garbage contract will see a huge jump, due to the high increase in gasoline. We must plan on an increase of more than 30 percent. Clerk-Treasurer will have projected expenditures for the Water and Sewer funds at the next budget meeting. Another budget meeting will be necessary to discuss wages and revenue. A motion was made by Trustee Bateman, and seconded by Deputy Mayor Conley, to have another meeting on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. Carried. A motion was made by Trustee Sarchia, and seconded by Deputy Mayor Conley, to adjourn. Carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Rebecca A. Schweigert Clerk-Treasurer
