A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Saturday, February 12, 2005, in the Village Hall. Mayor Maedl opened the meeting at 9:15 a.m. Also present were Deputy Mayor Conley, Trustee Bateman, Trustee Herriven, Trustee Shuttleworth, DPW Superintendent Mahar, Police Chief Swick, and Clerk-Treasurer Schweigert. A motion was made by Trustee Bateman, and seconded by Trustee Shuttleworth, to move into executive session for the purpose of discussions regarding the collective negotiations pursuant to the Taylor Law. Carried. Executive session was opened at 9:15 a.m. A motion was made by Trustee Herriven, and seconded by Trustee Bateman, to move back into general session. Carried. Mayor Maedl reconvened general session at 10:05 a.m. Budget discussions ensued. Line items in the general fund were discussed to determine if an increase or decrease was warranted. Wages will be discussed in the future. The following occurred during the course of discussion: X Clerk-Treasurer asked to contact Blue Cross for a comparison of policies between BC/BS and Community Blue. Retirees may be moved to Community Blue if the policies are close. This will save the Village several thousand dollars each year. X Clerk-Treasurer will contact M&T bank to see if bond payment date could be changed as it comes when funds are low. X Clerk-Treasurer will look into possibility of changing Village elections to November if this could save money. Discussed generator. Mayor Maedl sent a letter to Assemblywoman Sandra Lee Wirth requesting $50,000 for the purchase of a heavy-duty generator and rewiring of the Village Hall and Fire Hall to use the generator. The cost for the generator will be $18,000; the Village may go ahead and purchase its own generator if the Fire Department doesn’t get more involved in this project. Clerk-Treasurer asked to have sidewalk policy changed to require bills for reimbursement be submitted within 2 months. This will be done when the policy is renewed. Deputy Mayor Conley asked that a letter be sent to the baseball program directors outlining the following: X the amount of money left in this year’s budget X bills must be submitted by May 31, 2005 to be paid X funding for next year is available after June 1, 2005 X money from Town of Royalton comes to the Village Trustee Shuttleworth advised that the library would like an increase in funding. Clerk will determine when last increase was. The next meeting for budget purposes will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. in the Village Hall. The general fund will be finished and the water and sewer funds will be discussed. There being no further business, a motion was made by Trustee Herriven, and seconded by Deputy Mayor Conley, to adjourn. Carried. Meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Rebecca A.
